quarryquest:

BF Garienos kindly shows us how they made Mrs Hudson disappear from view when she walked up the path away from Sherlock’s grave. Now you see them, now you don’t, all done with a little camera placement.

Wasn’t really planning to get stuck on this subject tonight, but as long as I’m here let’s get it all the way over with.

  1. As quarryquest’s photoset illustrates beautifully, there’s no big conspiracy involved in why Mrs. H disappeared behind the tombstone in The Reichenbach Fall. That’s just what happens when you put the camera at a certain angle and send someone walking up the path.

  2. For the in-story version of this, nobody could’ve kidnapped Mrs. H in that moment because John’s point of view wasn’t the same as the camera’s, and when he turned to leave immediately after Mrs. H “disappeared” he would’ve seen someone dragging her away because he lives in a three-dimensional world.

  3. I know some people put it down to a crew member dragging Una out of shot, but please think about it.
    A) Since being dragged away without John seeing makes no sense as a plot element in three-dimensional space, she didn’t need to disappear. She just needed to walk away like a normal person. Like she did. And it still wasn’t a “clean” shot after the arm (her own arm) “appeared.” Mrs. H still bobbed back and forth behind the gravestone like a normal walking person would before going fully out of sight.
    B) They shot this scene with a skeleton crew to keep it all super top-secret. Absolutely minimal staff (wearing short sleeves, no less) and they decided to make it someone’s job to stand perfectly out of sight and drag the septuagenarian off camera?
    C) Because HI, Una Stubbs has been working longer than most of her Sherlock costars have been alive. The whole idea that they needed to place someone to yank her into position is, in my opinion, insulting. She’s a pro. Don’t tell me she doesn’t know how to walk where they tell her to walk. It’s nonsense created to explain away an optical illusion.

And I know the people who don’t want to be convinced won’t be, so I guess this post is for the other people and we can all just sit and wait for Series 3 now. *checks watch*

Love all these theories and thinking… What about the previous episode. It was all about persuading people they see something that they actually did not see, using a hallucinogen… Sherlock is far from Watson, means Watson cannot properly see his friend’s face… The whole mystery relies on what Watson sees and further on the autopsy of Sherlock’s body that was very likely done by Moly to whom Sherlock asked a favor not long before the fall..

I do not have an entire theory, but there are two things I just wanted to point out, although I’m sure everyone noticed! 1) Sherlock told Molly he needed her, so it would make sense that Molly, who has access to medicines and corpses, played a part in faking Sherlock’s death 2) The little girl who screamed when she saw Sherlock was never explained, therefore this could mean that she thought it was someone else who looked a lot like Sherlock, and could therefore act as a body double..

But wait… if Sherlock did actually use a double (like a corpse), couldn’t John have at least confirmed that it was actually Sherlock or not? Not immediately after the fall, no. John was in shock and I’m assuming he didn’t see the face clearly. But during the wake, or funeral or something. When dead!Sherlock is in the casket just before he would be buried…

Why Moriarty is NOT dead: my sister’s theory…

Notice they keep saying in the newspapers that Sherlock is dead but NEVER say anything about Moriarty being dead because they didn’t find his body there! If they went up to the roof to see where Sherlock jumped from and investigate then they should have found his body, unless! he walked away after he saw Sherlock fall because he was never dead!!!
